Basketball Recap: Mountain View Skates Past Skyline with Ease

Mountain View waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took their game with ease, bagging a 73-40 win over the Skyline Coyotes. The Toros have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mountain View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Fischbeck, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Fischbeck a new career-high in steals (seven). Millie Ahlstrom was another key player, going 6 for 10 on her way to 14 points and eight assists.

Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline only racked up ten assists.

Jordan Seiuli and Lauren Haas certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Seiuli dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Haas posted 11 points. Seiuli has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Cole, who scored six points.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Mountain View will venture away from home to square off against Red Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Red Mountain likes a good challenge. Skyline has already played their next contest (against Mesa), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
