Lake Travis (11-2) vs. Austin Westlake (13-0), 2 p.m. Saturday at Pflugerville’s The Pfield: It’s another district rematch as 26-6A foes and the two programs of record in Austin battle once again.

Lake Travis is getting things done this year with an absolute lock-down defense, which has allowed just 38 points in three playoff games. It’s quite the departure from the traditional Lake Travis teams that have been offense centric. This LTHS defense isn’t loaded with stars but two names to watch are DL Gus Cordova and LB Markus Boswell.

In last week’s 34-7 win over San Antonio Brennan, the Cavs defense allowed a long touchdown run on the opening series of the game and then pitched a shutout the rest of the way.

Austin Westlake had no trouble with an overmatched Laredo United squad winning 59-14 as the Chaparrals scored 35 first-quarter points and liberally substituted the remainder of the afternoon.

The WHS defense picked off two passes on the first two series of the game and cruised to the easy win.

Sophomore QB Rees Wise has continued to progress in the Westlake offensive attack and when you have a player like Jack Kyser to lean on, the Westlake offense will have enough to slip past Lake Travis in a close, low-scoring matchup.

Stepp’s Pick: Austin Westlake by 7
