Treasure Coast hasn't had much luck against Vero Beach recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Titans will face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m.
Treasure Coast came up short against Jensen Beach on Thursday, falling 7-1. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Treasure Coast got a good showing from Jacob Contreras, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Contreras has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Treasure Coast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charles Permann, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Vero Beach came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Panthers.
Sebastian Dimitroff looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jace Romans, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Wood, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Vero Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dwyer only posted a batting average of .214.
Vero Beach pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Treasure Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Treasure Coast has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vero Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Treasure Coast came up short against Vero Beach in their previous meeting back in March, falling 8-3. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
