The Norwalk Lancers won against the Santa Fe Chiefs on Tuesday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Norwalk had just enough and edged Santa Fe out 46-44. The victory was familiar territory for Norwalk who now have three in a row.
Keilani Ganancial was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with 4 steals. The match was her eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Des Ferguson, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emily Collins, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
The last time Norwalk lost on the road was back last Friday. Having now won five straight away matches, they've pushed their record up to 3-5. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwalk won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Montebello at 6:30 p.m. on December 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Montebello is ranked 862nd, while Norwalk is ranked 886th). As for Santa Fe, they will head out on the road to face off against Anaheim at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Anaheim's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
