The Tartan Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Hill-Murray Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Tartan will be strutting in after a win while Hill-Murray will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with 12 losses in a row, Tartan turned things around against Simley on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Titans not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 14-8).
Leah Borgwardt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Borgwardt was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sydney Fearing and River Ambourn did most of the damage at the plate: Fearing went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Ambourn went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Ambourn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Radanke, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Tartan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hill-Murray was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Hastings, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pioneers have suffered against the Raiders since April 24, 2019.
Hill-Murray saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Drikakis, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Hill-Murray's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Tartan, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-13.
Hill-Murray's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tartan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. It's a different story for Hill-Murray, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Tartan's hitters?
Tartan couldn't quite get it done against Hill-Murray in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 8-5. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
