Grant is 9-1 against Verdugo Hills since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Even though Grant has not done well against Granada Hills Charter recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Grant had just enough and edged Granada Hills Charter out 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Grant has posted yet this season.
Grant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omree Bentov, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Bentov also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of WILLIAM OVERTON, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills strolled past North Hollywood with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 60-42. Given Verdugo Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while North Hollywood is ranked 889th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grant is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Verdugo Hills, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Grant took their victory against Verdugo Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 76-54. With Grant ahead 45-24 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
