Football Recap: Aydin Poe Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Paxon School for Advanced Studies

Fernandina Beach extended their postseason success on Friday against Paxon School For Advanced Studies. They never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 28-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Fernandina Beach got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aydin Poe out in front who picked up 116 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Poe got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 73 yards. Ian Miller was another key player, having thrown for 254 yards and three touchdowns.

Fernandina Beach didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Paxon School For Advanced Studies to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Pirates have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.

When it comes to explaining why Paxon School For Advanced Studies lost, don't look at Kj Palmer. Despite the final result, he rushed for 147 yards. Palmer is becoming a predictor of the Golden Eagles' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 7-2 (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

Fernandina Beach's record is now 7-5. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
