The Jenkins County War Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Emanuel County Institute with a sharp 28-7 victory. Considering Jenkins County has won eight games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenkins County had a senior duo take command as Christian Wilson rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries and Rob-travious Coney rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Jenkins County's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 East Laurens and 2-7 Treutlen (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.2% over those games). As for Emanuel County Institute, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Jenkins County will head out on the road to face off against Portal at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Portal is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Emanuel County Institute, they will be playing at home against Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Montgomery County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
