Western Boone and Frankfort are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Stars will head out to square off against the Hot Dogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Western Boone is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Western Boone turned things around against North Montgomery on Saturday. They came out on top against the Chargin' Chargers by a score of 47-39. Those 47 points were actually the fewest the Stars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Western Boone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Westerfeld led the charge by shooting 56% from the field on his way to 14 points and five boards. Tristyn Faulk was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.
Western Boone was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Montgomery only racked up four.
Meanwhile, Frankfort was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monrovia.
Western Boone will need to focus on slowing down Taran Emery, one of several Frankfort players who made an impact when they last played. He shot 63% from the field to rack up 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Beardsley, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 18 points and eight boards.
Frankfort's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Western Boone, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Western Boone has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Frankfort, though, as they've been averaging only 14.2 boards. Given Western Boone's sizable advantage in that area, the Hot Dogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Western Boone got the 'W' when the teams last played back in January of 2025 against Frankfort by a conclusive 77-57 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stars since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
