Smoky Valley (Lindsborg, Kan.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used 22 fourth quarter points to seal the 42-12 victory over Sterling (Kan.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, the Vikings led 20-12 at the half.
Smoky Valley put up 22 points in the fourth quarter en route to the win. SV scored on a touchdown run by
Matt Guerrero, a
Christian Hansen touchdown run and a punt return touchdown by Guerrero in the quarter.
A 26-14 Smoky Valley victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
Smoky Valley (1-0) goes up against Kingman in a Central Kansas game matchup next week, while Sterling (0-1) locks horns with Hillsboro also in a Central Kansas game.
