Baseball Recap: Morenci Extends Winning Streak to Three

Morenci entered their tilt with San Miguel on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Vipers.

Jaymz Guzzo made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Morenci let MJ Aguilar and Nathan Medina run wild. Aguilar went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs, while Medina got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Aguilar has become a key player for Morenci: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Arick Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Morenci was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.

Morenci's record now sits at 7-15. As for San Miguel, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morenci will host Benson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for San Miguel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Augustine Catholic at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.21 runs per game on average), something the Vipers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
