Union Grove made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,271 from 2,732. The improvement came about via a 24-13 victory over Mundy's Mill last week.
Jonathan Slade and Derrick Craine gave the Wolverines a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Slade threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns, while Craine ran for 146 yards. Teammate Luke Parker added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.
Rodney Smith provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers lost to Union Grove. He completed one pass for 32 yards and also ran for 123 yards. Smith's favorite target this week was Mark Hawkins, who caught three passes for 57 yards.
Derrion Dawson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Forest Park fell to Ola. The junior recorded two fumbles.
Thanks to the talents of Rodricous Gates and Smith Mundy's Mill has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Gates leads the league in passing with 679 yards, while Smith has rushed for 1379 yards this season. The Wolverines' Caleb Ham leads the league in receiving yards with 308 on 13 catches.
The top two teams in AAAAA Region 4A will face off this week when first place Union Grove takes on second place Drew. Union Grove defeated the Tigers last week, while Drew topped Mt. Zion.
