The Pueblo South Colts are taking a road trip to take on the Swallows Charter Academy Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pueblo South has now lost 19 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 21.
Pueblo South came up short against Pueblo East on Tuesday, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-6, 25-14.
Meanwhile, Swallows Charter Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Peyton two weeks ago.
Swallows Charter Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Peyton into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The final score came out to 25-11, 23-25, 22-25, 25-15, 15-6.
Pueblo South better focus on containing Alianna Montoya and Taylor Bond as the pair were huge in Swallows Charter Academy's win. Montoya had 13 digs and two aces, while Bond had 14 kills, six digs, and four aces. That's the most aces Montoya has posted since back in September of 2024.
Swallows Charter Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive matches.
Swallows Charter Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Pueblo South, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-19.
Pueblo South suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Swallows Charter Academy in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
