Having just played yesterday, the Fillmore Flashes will jump right back in to play the Verdugo Hills Dons at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Fillmore came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Oakwood, falling 44-21. The matchup marked the Flashes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Fillmore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lucy Murillo dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Murillo is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hermelinda Ocegueda, who posted two points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Verdugo Hills). They blew past Central City Value 62-7 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Verdugo Hills' win came from a few key players Fillmore will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kayla Pimentel, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Alondra Chairez Chavez, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Verdugo Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Fillmore fell to 4-1. As for Verdugo Hills, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fillmore has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 50.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Verdugo Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 39.4 rebounds.
