Alameda has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Standley Lake Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alameda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 326th, while Standley Lake is ranked 148th).
Alameda struggled with assists on Tuesday (Adams City had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Alameda was beaten by Adams City 97-27. Alameda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 61-13.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brian Sanchez, who scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Efrain Huerta, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Even though Standley Lake has not done well against Golden recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Standley Lake enjoyed a cozy 61-46 win over Golden. The win made it back-to-back wins for Standley Lake.
Standley Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Titus Schrecengost out in front who scored 19 points along with five assists and four steals. Schrecengost hasn't dropped below three steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Derrek Sims, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Alameda's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Standley Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.
Alameda was dealt a bruising 57-29 loss at the hands of Standley Lake in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Alameda avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
