The New Hope Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Pontotoc Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (New Hope has nine straight victories, Pontotoc has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
New Hope can't be too worried about heading out to take on Pontotoc: they just beat Hamilton at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Trojans came out on top against the Lions by a score of 10-6 on Friday. Ten seems to be a good number for the Trojans as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Ava Mordecai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lexi McBrayer and Kaselyn Harcrow did most of the damage at the plate: McBrayer scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Harcrow went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave McBrayer a new career-high. Tatum McBride was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: New Hope kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pontotoc didn't have quite enough to beat Eupora on Friday and fell 5-3.
Jaz Cuellar was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
New Hope pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Pontotoc, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
New Hope came up short against Pontotoc in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
