The Grand Saline Indians will challenge the Lone Oak Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grand Saline is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 46-7 win over Chisum. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Indians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Mustangs are ranked 1007th).

It was another big night for Jett Taylor, who rushed for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 170 yards and one TD while completing 84.6% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 150.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Grand Saline's leading receiver Karson Herring was Taylor's top target yet again, picking up 94 receiving yards, while also punching in one score on the ground.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Grand Saline's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Gavin Rodriguez and Eli Ivy, who racked up four sacks between them. Ivy is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Bo Hathcock got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lone Oak had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Bulldogs 41-19.
Lone Oak's win came from a few key players Grand Saline will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Slayde Parnell, who threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes. Alex McCallum helped Parnell out on the ground, rushing for 124 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Lone Oak's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Grand Saline, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Everything went Grand Saline's way against Lone Oak when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Grand Saline made off with a 28-7 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffaloes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
