The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They suffered a rough 59-35 defeat at the hands of Colorado Academy. While losing is never fun, Eagle Ridge Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Colorado Academy is ranked 14th).
Despite the loss, Eagle Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Aiden Wanrow dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. Wanrow has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Garcia, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Leading Colorado Academy to victory were Clyde Love and Simeon Woldeyohannes. Love scored 14 points, while Woldeyohannes scored ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Woldeyohannes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jason Bratis, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Eagle Ridge Academy has fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 5-8. As for Colorado Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Eagle Ridge Academy will be playing at home against The Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Colorado Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Kent Denver at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Kent Denver has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,109 points over their last 13 games.
