Given Union Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Hillgrove is ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Union Grove had a senior duo take command as Nadea Smith scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and Jordan Brooks scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The matchup was Smith's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mariah Miller, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Union Grove's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Hillgrove, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
