Piney Woods took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the McLaurin Tigers by a score of 61-52. Winning may never get old, but the Tornadoes sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row dating back to last season.
Piney Woods was led to victory by Kemet Edoa and Andrew Djeumen. Edoa went 11-for-12 on his way to 22 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals, while Djeumen shot 70% from the field to rack up 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natan Malinowski, who posted seven points and five boards.
When it comes to explaining why McLaurin lost, don't look at TY Williams. Despite the final result, he put up 19 points along with five assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was KJ Cannon, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points.
