The Richlands Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Pamlico County Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Richlands is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Richlands took a serious blow against East Duplin, falling 57-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Richlands has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Richlands saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mia Wells, who scored two points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jayla Bonney, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Pamlico County's game on Wednesday was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past West Carteret 45-42. The win was just what Pamlico County needed coming off of a 64-23 loss in their prior matchup.
Pamlico County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydney Whitley-Reese out in front who scored 24 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Whitley-Reese has scored at least 25% of Pamlico County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dania Galvan-Veliz, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Richlands has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Pamlico County, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
