McKinley Tech is 1-9 against Dunbar since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The McKinley Tech Trainers will be playing at home against the Dunbar Crimson Tide at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully McKinley Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, McKinley Tech faced School Without Walls in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McKinley Tech had just enough and edged School Without Walls out 40-38. The win was just what McKinley Tech needed coming off of a 59-34 defeat in their prior game.
McKinley Tech's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leria Amah, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds, and Jemima Bomoyi, who scored 12 points along with nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Amah has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chiagoziem Njoku, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Dunbar suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Monday. They were outmatched by Archbishop Carroll on the road and fell 74-33. Dunbar was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
McKinley Tech now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Dunbar, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
McKinley Tech beat Dunbar 40-30 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does McKinley Tech have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dunbar turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
