The Southwest DeKalb Panthers's game on Friday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost to Holy Innocents Episcopal at home by a decisive 64-46 margin. While losing is never fun, Southwest DeKalb can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Holy Innocents Episcopal is ranked 48th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelvin Peek, III, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Jackson Ushery was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holy Innocents Episcopal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Hutcherson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Hutcherson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds.
Southwest DeKalb has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-6.
Southwest DeKalb does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, they will be playing at home against Miller Grove at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Innocents Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Miller Grove likes a good challenge.
