West Tallahatchie has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Resurrection Catholic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, West Tallahatchie rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Leake County, posting a 42-0 victory at home. 42 seems to be a good number for West Tallahatchie as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Issac Day and Tristian Hill were among the main playmakers for West Tallahatchie as the former rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries and the latter rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Hill was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Rosevelt Phillips got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
West Tallahatchie's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Lester Westbrook and Phillips who racked up six sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Catholic strolled past French Camp Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 21-7.
Resurrection Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Pickens led the charge by rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Schnoor was another key contributor, throwing for 192 yards and a touchdown on only 11 passes.
West Tallahatchie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Resurrection Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
West Tallahatchie took a serious blow against Resurrection Catholic in their previous matchup back in November of 2019, falling 54-20. Thankfully for West Tallahatchie, Zack Switzer (who rushed for 151 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
