The James Monroe Mavericks entered their tilt with the Summers County Bobcats with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. James Monroe snuck past the Bobcats with a 51-45 victory on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but James Monroe was the better team in the second half.
James Monroe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Baker, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Baker is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cole, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
James Monroe pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for Summers County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
James Monroe will play host again and welcome the Crusaders, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greater Beckley Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday. As for Summers County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
