Union Pines scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 80-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westover Wolverines. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (69), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Union Pines lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Treshaun Core, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 22 points and five boards. He also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Wesley Bailey, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points.

Westover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Payton, who shot 60% from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. Demarious Hall was another key player, going 6-for-8 to rack up 17 points.

Union Pines is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Westover, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.
