After three games on the road, St. Charles is heading back home. They will take on the Wabasha-Kellogg Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (St. Charles is ranked 382nd, while Wabasha-Kellogg is ranked 365th).
Last Monday, St. Charles had to suffer through a rough 63-17 loss at the hands of Lake City.
Wabasha-Kellogg can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against LeRoy-Ostrander and snuck past 47-44. The victory was just what Wabasha-Kellogg needed coming off of a 62-33 defeat in their prior matchup.
Brielle Adams had a dynamite game for Wabasha-Kellogg, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Paddock, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Wabasha-Kellogg was without their leading scorer, Ileana DeAngel, in Tuesday's game. With DeAngel sitting this one out, Addisyn Quade got some extra time on the court (30 vs. her season average of 15). Quade made the most of the opportunity, scoring 12 points along with two steals. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
St. Charles dropped their record down to 1-21 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Wabasha-Kellogg, their victory ended a 24-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-19.
St. Charles came up short against Wabasha-Kellogg in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 58-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of DeAngel, who dropped a triple-double on 31 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Now that St. Charles knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
