2A Conference 34 recap November 13, 2013
Brunswick added to the longest winning streak in 2A Conference 34 this week by beating Greensville County, 47-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Nottoway fell to Heritage 56-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Balik Brown was a bright spot for the Cougars, as he threw for 66 yards and 1 touchdown in the loss.
Tyrell Hicks was a key player and the best on defense this week as Goochland beat Amelia County. He recorded 1 fumble.
Trey Watson was a passing and rushing force as Bluestone lost to Randolph-Henry. He completed 5 passes for 67 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 57 yards. Watson's favorite target this week was Nathen Finch, who caught 2 passes for 25 yards.
Brown put up the best numbers in passing as Nottoway lost to the Pioneers. Brown's favorite target this week was Shalik Brown, who caught 2 passes for 58 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Reid Chenault and David Dyer, the Bulldogs have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Chenault is tops in the league in passing with 665 yards, while Dyer has rushed for 931 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Grayson Throckmorton's team's Brown, with 302 yards on 11 catches.
Dyer of the Goochland is just 69 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 147 carries Dyer has accumulated 931 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brunswick takes on the Raiders. As it stands, Harold Williams' team is in second, while Amelia County is in fourth.
