The Columbus Discoverers will head out on the road to face off against the Bellevue East Chieftains on Thursday. Hopefully Columbus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Columbus lost to Grand Island on the road by a decisive 54-39 margin. Columbus has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caden Kapels, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tanner Esch, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Bellevue East struggled with assists on Saturday (Lincoln Southeast had 800% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bellevue East was beaten by Lincoln Southeast 73-27. Bellevue East has not had much luck with Lincoln Southeast recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Bellevue East had strong showings from Ammi Williams, who scored 11 points, and Trey Tolbert, who scored 7 points. Williams scored a full 40.7% of Bellevue East's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The losses dropped Columbus to 0-2 and Grand Island to 1-1.
Columbus lost to Bellevue East on the road by a decisive 66-47 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Columbus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
