The Valley Center Jaguars will take on the Clairemont Chieftains at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Center will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
It was a proper cat-fight when Valley Center took on Escondido on Saturday. The Jaguars came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 9-5. The Jaguars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Valley Center let JD Marquez and Holden Minicilli run wild. Marquez went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Minicilli went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Minicilli a new career-high. Manny Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Valley Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, on Saturday Clairemont's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Calexico.
Jo Jo Moreno looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Luis Murrieta was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles. Ivan Murrieta also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Valley Center's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Clairemont, their record now sits at 4-0.
Valley Center was able to grind out a solid win over Clairemont in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Chieftains have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
