The Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Northgate Broncos at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Clayton Valley Charter's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Broncos have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Clayton Valley Charter beat the Eagles 48-42.
Clayton Valley Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucy Guitron led the charge by scoring 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guitron has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Surney, who scored six points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northgate can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They breezed by Ygnacio Valley at home to the tune of 71-44. Given Northgate's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Wolves are ranked 557th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amelia Schrag continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Myhr, who scored 13 points.
Clayton Valley Charter is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Northgate, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Clayton Valley Charter have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 39.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
