Basketball Recap: Serra Extends Winning Streak to Four

Serra had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-51 W against the Royal Highlanders.

Royal lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lucas Markand, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. He also posted four blocks, which is notable because Royal is 2-1 when he posts at least three blocks, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Grady Olson, who posted 12 points.

The victory got Serra back to even at 5-5. As for Royal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Serra will be taking part in a tournament against Rowland at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Royal, they will take on Calvary Baptist in a tournament on Saturday.
