The Classical Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Mitchell since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Marauders at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
The Classical Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sand Creek with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Basil Murphy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Rilee Sanson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ashlyne Cramer also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
The Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sand Creek only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mitchell). They blew past Sierra 30-17 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Marauders.
The team relied heavily on Natalie Gaytan, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with eight RBI, four runs, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Roberts, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Mitchell's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for The Classical Academy, their record is now 14-5.
Mitchell's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. The Classical Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mitchell, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 strikeouts. Will The Classical Academy keep running through batters, or will the Marauders buck the trend?
The Classical Academy took their victory against Mitchell in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
