Ida Baker got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julianna Nieves out in front who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Nieves hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Maia Berdebes, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Lehigh's loss came despite strong showings from Sanaa Geter and Faith Plummer. Geter dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Plummer scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Geter continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Ida Baker pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lehigh, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Ida Baker won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gateway Charter at 6:30 p.m. on January 11th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Gateway Charter is ranked 220th, while Ida Baker is ranked 232nd). As for Lehigh, they will be playing at home against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunbar is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
