The Timberlake Christian Tornadoes lost against the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Timberlake Christian fell to Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy 43-37. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Timberlake Christian in their matchups with Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Defeat or not, Timberlake Christian got some senior leadership from Emma Luther and Allie Mooney. Luther dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Mooney. scored ten points along with three steals. Luther is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy was led to victory by Jordan White and Karlee Smith. White scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Smith scored 14 points along with two steals. White hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Sierra Moore was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Timberlake Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timberlake Christian will challenge Temple Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Temple Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Westover Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westover Christian Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
