The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 51-39 to Ravenscroft. Cardinal Gibbons was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ravenscroft apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Cardinal Gibbons' loss came despite strong showings from Kathryn Vanburik and Tessa Gladieux. Vanburik scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals, while Gladieux scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds. Gladieux scored a full 43.6% of Cardinal Gibbons' points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Lemons, who scored 5 points.
Leading Ravenscroft to victory were Ellie Cronin and Zoe Adams. Cronin scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds, while Adams scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The game was Adams' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Jj Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Cardinal Gibbons now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Ravenscroft, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Gibbons will challenge Ashley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ravenscroft, they will head out on the road to face off against Greensboro Day School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Greensboro Day School presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ravenscroft in North Carolina (Greensboro Day School is ranked 21st, while Ravenscroft is ranked 213th).
