It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Trinity Christian Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Community Christian by a score of 58-51. The win was some much needed relief for Trinity Christian as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Community Christian saw an underclassman step up: Josiah Marquez dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. Marquez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Jonathan Blackburn was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Trinity Christian's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Community Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-2.
Trinity Christian will head out on the road to square off against Pantego Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Community Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dallas Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dallas Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
