For the first time this season, Leonardtown will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Great Mills Hornets at 6:00 p.m.
On Friday, Leonardtown ended up a good deal behind Lackey and lost 42-28. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bradley Hager put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 211 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 41 yards. 116 of Hager's passing yards were hauled in by Cameron Dean.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Mills). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat La Plata 47-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hornets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Warriors are ranked 172nd).
Leonardtown better keep an eye on Kian Bush. He was instrumental in Great Mills' win, throwing for 130 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 40 yards. Bush has become a key player for the Hornets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zhaykahrii Plater, who gained 63 total yards and a touchdown.
Great Mills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Dinero 'DJ' Girton, Jae'Von Medley, and Taeqarie Medley picked up one apiece. Girton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Great Mills and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points over those games. As for Leonardtown, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Leonardtown couldn't quite get it done against Great Mills when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 26-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bush, who rushed for 35 yards and one score, and also threw for 151 yards and one TD while completing 81.8% of his passes. Now that the Raiders know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
