Christine Renteria was incredible, firing off four stolen bases, three triples, and five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those three triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin DiFabio, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Woodland Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.6.
12 must be Sand Creek's lucky number: they beat Florence with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Scorpions beat the Huskies by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The win continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won six in a row.
Abigail Knapp was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sand Creek got a massive performance out of Lyla Almeida, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Nazariah Sweat was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Woodland Park's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Sand Creek, their win bumped their record up to 5-14.
