The Texas University Interscholastic League football playoffs will soon be underway.
The championship games for Classes 1A 6-Man Division I, 1A 6-Man Division 2 and 2A Division 1 are scheduled for Dec. 18 while state title winners in Classes 2A Division 2, 3A Division 1 and 3A Division 2 will be determined Dec. 19.
Finalists in Classes 4A Division 1, 4A Division 2 and 5A Division 1 will battle it out on Dec. 20 while Class 5A Division 2, Class 6A Division 1 and Class 6A Division 2 state championship hardware will be handed out Dec. 21.
AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, will serve as the host site for all 12 state championship contests.
Champions in 2018 include McLean (1A 6-Man Division 1), Strawn (1A 6-Man Division 2), Mason (2A Division 2), Mart (2A Division 2), Grandview (3A Division 1), Newton (3A Division 2), Waco La Vega (4A Division 1), Cuero (4A Division 2), Highland Park (5A Division 1), Aledo (5A Division 2), Galena Park North Shore (6A Division 1) and Longview (6A Division 2).
Highland Park will be trying to claim its fourth straight state football title while Strawn, Mart and Newton will all be trying to win three state football championships in a row once postseason play kicks off.
