The Horizon Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their tenth straight defeat. They were dealt a 71-36 defeat at the hands of Chaparral. While losing is never fun, Horizon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Chaparral is ranked 58th).
When it comes to explaining why Horizon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Craig Rodgers. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with two steals. Owen Brackmann was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Horizon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are 1-7 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Horizon has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 14 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season. As for Chaparral, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-11.
Horizon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-58 loss vs. Buckeye on the 7th. Chaparral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
