The U-32 Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Mt. Mansfield Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. U-32 is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.8 runs per game this season.
U-32 is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Oxbow, who was ranked sixth at the time (U-32 was ranked 17th). The Raiders lost 16-4 to the Olympians on Friday.
Elena Noyes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Noyes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Mt. Mansfield hadn't done well against Champlain Valley Union recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Redhawks, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted against the Redhawks since May 2, 2022.
Adelaide Gillilan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cassidy Thompson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Johnson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
With the victory, Mt. Mansfield broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for U-32, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. U-32 has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .497. However, it's not like Mt. Mansfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
U-32 was able to grind out a solid win over Mt. Mansfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 12-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
