Volleyball Recap: Highlands Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Highlands lost against MacArthur back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Owls took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brahmas.

Highlands started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 25-27, 26-24, 25-20, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Highlands still got an impressive performance from Linden Sepulveda, who had 33 digs and two aces. Sepulveda has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played. Cybella Davila also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

MacArthur got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella McCoy out in front who had 15 digs, four aces, and two blocks. Those four aces gave McCoy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Martin, who had 12 digs and four aces.

Highlands' loss ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11. As for MacArthur, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-11.

Highlands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Burbank on the 26th. As for MacArthur, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Harlandale on the 26th.
