6A Metro recap Sept. 26, 2012
Beaverton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 6A Metro. The Beavers vanquished McKay 34-20 earlier in the week.
Southridge was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Southridge 28-21. The Skyhawks came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Beaverton's dynamic duo of Kyle Eckrosh and Davasyia Hagger proved tough for the Scots to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Eckrosh threw for 155 yards and Hagger had 64 yards receiving. Xavier Rosevear helped Beaverton's passing attack out by catching two balls for 52 yards.
Thomas Tyner was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 41 carries, he ran for 257 yards as Aloha bested McKay. CJ Eytel also contributed to the rushing game with 14 yards on the ground.
The Beavers' Eckrosh and Hagger have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Eckrosh has thrown for 776 yards this season, while Hagger, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 15 catches for 273 yards. Tyner from the Warriors leads the league in rushing with 1484 yards.
The marquee game in 6A Metro this week will be the clash between Jesuit and Sunset. The Crusaders enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while the Apollos ranks 18th.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Aloha takes on Westview. Chris Casey's team's offense has scored 178 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Wildcats have allowed only 109 on the year.
Beaverton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Greg Mendez's team, 34-20. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Beavers.
