While St. Margaret's win against Laguna Beach wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Breakers on Thursday. The Tartans haven't had any issues with the Breakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-107) St. Margaret's actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 15-25, 25-21, 25-20, 17-15.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rosary Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past Sage Hill 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Royals have posted since September 18th.
Rosary Academy took Sage Hill into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-12.
St. Margaret's better keep an eye on Aurora Ortuno. She was instrumental in Rosary Academy's win, getting nine digs and two aces. What's more, Ortuno racked up 22 assists, the most she's had over her last eight matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Moos, who had eight digs and two aces.
Rosary Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive matches.
Rosary Academy's win bumped their record up to 22-9. As for St. Margaret's, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.
