Nashville Christian is 0-3 against Friendship Christian since November of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Commanders at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Nashville Christian sitting on 19 straight victories dating back to last season and Friendship Christian on five.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Nashville Christian simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ezell-Harding Christian 65-12. The result was nothing new for Nashville Christian, who have now won seven matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Friendship Christian). They really took it to Mount Juliet Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-20 win. With the Commanders ahead 49-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Friendship Christian's win came from a few key players Nashville Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Blake Waldorf, who rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 135 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (154.2). Jayden McGowan was another key player, rushing for 45 yards and a pair of scores.
Friendship Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Vinny Henry and Jaxon Pulliam. Henry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Friendship Christian, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Bradyn Stringer, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Friendship Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Nashville Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Nashville Christian was dealt a bruising 56-14 loss at the hands of Friendship Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Eagles, Tyson Wolcott (who rushed for 228 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
