The Bear River Bears will face off against the Riverton Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are still undefeated (Bear River has seven wins , while Riverton has eight dating back to last season).
Bear River is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Logan, who was ranked eighth at the time (Bear River was ranked second). Bear River was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Logan on Tuesday. Considering the Bears have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Luci Roche, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Londyn Gamble was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Roche wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bear River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Riverton made easy work of Spanish Fork on Tuesday and carried off a 13-3 win. The Silverwolves are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Riverton got a massive performance out of Grace Leary, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maggie Hamblin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Bear River pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bear River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've averaged .504. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
