The Juniata Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 54-38 to Springfield Christian Academy. Juniata Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Springfield Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Smith, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jake Houk was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Juniata Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Springfield Christian Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-5.
Juniata Christian will take on Bridgeport Baptist Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Community Baptist Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
