The Page Pirates's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They blew past College Prep & Leadership Academy 61-28 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Page has managed all season.
Page found their leader in underclassman Lola Vanore, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vanore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hattie Sloyan, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Several Royals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MacKenzie Dumbuya, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Melody Johnson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, College Prep & Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. This was only their seventh loss (out of seven games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Page's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Page won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northwest Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Northwest Guilford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Page in North Carolina (Northwest Guilford is ranked 106th, while Page is ranked 353rd).
