The Campbell County Cougars will challenge the Knox Central Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Campbell County turned things around against Oneida on Monday. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jenna Pinkston was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kyra Baird was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Campbell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Knox Central faced off against Solvay on Monday. The Panthers walked away with a 9-6 win over the Bearcats.
Blakely Castle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Castle was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Autumn Bryant and Kendell Williamson did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Williamson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Shelbi Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Campbell County's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Knox Central, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
